Berry Smoothie Bowl
Frozen berries, banana, thick yogurt, granola and seeds.
Maui's an app that plans a whole week of dinners like this one. See how it works ↓
The whole trick is using the least liquid the blender will tolerate. A smoothie bowl is just a smoothie you were too impatient with - add milk until it blends easily and you have made a drink in a bowl, which is a sadder thing to eat with a spoon.
Ingredients
Everything below makes 2 servings.
- 2½ cupsfrozen mixed berriesstraight from the freezer - this is what makes it thick
- 1 mediumbananafrozen in chunks if you have it, fresh is fine
- ¾ cupplain Greek yogurt
- ¼ cupwhole milkstart with less - you can always add
- 1 tbsphoney
- ½ cupgranolafor the top

Instructions
Knife work first, then the stove. Nothing below asks you to chop while something burns.
- If your berries are fresh rather than frozen, spread them on a plate and freeze for 30 min first. Fresh fruit blends into a drink; frozen fruit blends into something you can eat with a spoon, and that difference is the recipe.
Blend thick
Put the frozen mixed berries, banana, plain Greek yogurt, honey and just the splash of milk into the blender. Blend in short pulses, stopping to scrape down, until it moves like soft-serve. Resist adding more liquid - it should barely turn over. If the blender genuinely will not catch, add milk one tablespoon at a time.
3 min · hands onBowl and top
Spoon into two bowls and smooth the surface flat with the back of the spoon. Scatter the granola and chia seeds across the top in stripes rather than a pile - every spoonful should get some crunch. Eat straight away, while it is still cold enough to hold its shape.
2 min · hands onMake it yours
Every swap here is one Maui already knows how to make, including what it does to the timing.
Straight into the blender with everything else - it needs the blades.
Keeps it gluten-free and adds more crunch per spoonful. Adds about 1 minutes.
Dollop on top and drag a spoon through - adds peanut allergen. Adds about 1 minutes.
Thinner, so use half the milk or it will not hold a spoon.
What keeps
Blended and left, it separates and melts into a drink within about fifteen minutes. Freeze the fruit in portioned bags instead - that is the part worth doing ahead, and it makes the morning a 3-minute job.
